The Dennis Project's (TDP) legacy begins with a mother of five who traded her married life as a homemaker to move into Miami-Dade's James E. Scott housing projects to escape domestic abuse. She had no high school diploma, no career, and no money. Against the odds, she obtained a GED in night school and earned a bachelor’s degree in education from St. Thomas University. She became a certified teacher and purposefully taught elementary grades in a Title 1 school in Miami-Dade’s inner city until she died in 1994.
Her name is Amelia Dennis, our founder’s grandmother. Mrs. Dennis raised Auntaria to value education and service. TDP is built on the foundation that knowledge, enlightenment, and support help break cycles of poverty so we can pay it forward in service.

The Dennis Project, Inc. was founded in 2012 in celebration of the Dennis Family. As teachers, community champions and positive mentors our family legacy has influenced many to uplift their community by becoming a positive change. Faced with many adversities these phenomenal women have held true to their faith, family values, love of learning, and willingness to help others. Their roots are established in the inner city community, where they have made an incredible impact.
Auntaria is a Florida native and currently lives in sunny South Florida. She obtained a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Barry University, a master’s degree in education and an Educational Specialist degree (Ed.S.) in Educational Leadership. She is a Florida DOE certified teacher and certified trainer.
Auntaria has worked with a diverse population of learners for over 25 years as a K-12 teacher, adult education teacher, program manager, corporate training manager, and training director. In addition to her professional endeavors, in 2012 she founded the Dennis Project (TDP) and has worked in the community to inspire under-served youth to reach their full potential through the organization's education and family enrichment programs.
Having lost one of her greatest inspirations (grandmother Amelia Dennis) to breast cancer, Auntaria is determined to enrich, empower, and engage youth through the Dennis Project's enrichment programs.
